Future Releases That I Need in my Life

Hello, hiddleston-counting Recently, I had run out of books that I really wanted to read. July/ August has been a dry spell of me hitting the “Want to Read” button on Goodreads for new releases. However, there are some books that I am looking forward to getting my hands on in the near future and thus, I thought I would make a list of them in hopes that later on, I can cut them off of the list. (Parts of the sypnosis for each book are in italics) Continue reading

Books That I’m Taking on Holiday

Hello,

f14b7a2f8066a01967ce2455fd397af5

I’m going on an extended weekend holiday in Western England with my good friend and her family. It will only be for three days but it will be good to get away from the city life. We will be in the car for approximately five hours so I decided to take some books with me to enjoy in the car ride.

The Harry Potter Tag

Hello,

I wasn’t tagged by anyone in particular but this tag looked interesting. I saw this tag on this blog.

1. Favourite book?

Mine has to be hands down Prisoner of Azkaban. I love the character of Sirius Black and it made me so happy when Harry finally found a father figure in Sirius and was able to find out more about his parents. I feel like this is the book that made Harry realise who he was and was finally able to be happy.

Copy Cat. (A bit of a rant)

Hello,

Whilst I was writing my review I mentioned “copy-cat books.” It’s a phrase I often use to describe cliche books that follow the bandwagon of a successful one.

*cough* the whole vampire hype after Twilight *cough*

The amount of copycat books that I have on my shelf right now, glaring at me as we speak, is embarrassing. Surely I should have realised as soon as I read the sypnosis right? Wrong. The sypnosis of most copy cat books give you an illusion of “I am different” but most of the time they’re exactly like a #1 New York Times best seller – without the uniqueness.

Reading Habits

Hello,

I saw this tag on this blog and thought I would give it a go.

You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I go with the book that seems the most interesting at the time and what I feel like reading. Sometimes I feel like reading about dragons and swords whilst other times I like to read about angels and devils. It just depends on the mood.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or commit?

I always do this thing (and you may think I am weird for doing it) but I go into the middle of the book and read ten pages from there. If it seems interesting enough I will go back and continue it but if it is not then I do quit the book. I also sometimes read the ending of a book which is a bit unorthodox but ah well.

The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh Review (Somewhat Spoilery)

Hello,

I’ll try to do this without spoilers but seeing as this is my first review in a while, there may be a few slip ups.

Today I am going to do a review on the much hyped about book called The Wrath and The Dawn  by Renee Ahdieh.

A sumptuous and epically told love story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

An Introduction.

Hello,

I started this blog after my failed attempt at a book blog two years ago as I missed blogging and reviewing about books. I also sometimes read a book (good or bad) and after finishing the entirety of the book, I have all these feelings and nobody to rant with and thus the making of TheBookMinder.

Aside from reading, I like updating my bucketlist and ranting about politics. I adore politics. Not politicians, but politics. I despice the former. I’m a loud feminist who isn’t shy on voicing her opinion, which sometimes lands me in hot water. I hope to go on to do a Politics degree at a University that looks like Hogwarts (crossed fingers). And yes, I am still waiting on my Hogwart’s letter. Ah well.

This blog will not just be about books however, even if the title of this blog may give you that illusion. It will be a mix of politics, rants, books, travelling appreciation posts and pretty much anything that may seem like an interesting topic to write about.

I hope you guys will enjoy my posts from here on out and hope to hear from you guys soon,

Anaya.
