Future Releases That I Need in my Life

Hello, hiddleston-counting Recently, I had run out of books that I really wanted to read. July/ August has been a dry spell of me hitting the “Want to Read” button on Goodreads for new releases. However, there are some books that I am looking forward to getting my hands on in the near future and thus, I thought I would make a list of them in hopes that later on, I can cut them off of the list. (Parts of the sypnosis for each book are in italics)

  1. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas (Throne of Glass #4)

51V0t2klCzL._AA160_ Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . . Hell yes. I need this in my life asap. The Throne of Glass series is one of my favourite books of all time thanks to Sarah J Maas’ beautiful writing and world building. Queen of Shadows is the fourth book in the series which will be out on September 1st.

2. Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman (Blood of Gods and Royals #1) 51td4ndmmcL._AA160_ Imagine a time when the gods turn a blind eye to the agony of men, when the last of the hellions roam the plains and evil stirs beyond the edges of the map. A time when cities burn, and in their ashes, empires rise… This has a very Game of Thrones-esque feel to it which I am not complaining about. It also is based on Alexander the Great and it will be interesting to compare the real Alexander and this fictional one. The release date set for this book is August 25th.

3. Ice Like Fire by Sarah Raasch (Snow Like Ashes #2) 51ASCHfQXiL._AA160_ It’s been three months since the Winterians were freed and Spring’s king, Angra, disappeared—thanks largely to the help of Cordell. Meira just wants her people to be safe. When Cordellan debt forces the Winterians to dig their mines for payment, they unearth something powerful and possibly dangerous: Primoria’s lost chasm of magic. Theron sees this find as an opportunity—with this much magic, the world can finally stand against threats like Angra. But Meira fears the danger the chasm poses—the last time the world had access to so much magic, it spawned the Decay. So when the king of Cordell orders the two on a mission across the kingdoms of Primoria to discover the chasm’s secrets, Meira plans to use the trip to garner support to keep the chasm shut and Winter safe—even if it means clashing with Theron. But can she do so without endangering the people she loves? This is the sequel to Snow Like Ashes. The first book in the series I read a while back as it received a massive amount of hype. I, however, did not enjoy it as much as others had, as I found the book to be a bit cliche (the dreaded word). However, I will try and give this book a go and see if the plot line has improved. The release date for this book is October 13th.

4. The Rose Society by Marie Lu (The Young Elites #2) 51FjnoqK5IL._AA160_ Once upon a time, a girl had a father, a prince, a society of friends. Then they betrayed her, and she destroyed them all… How amazing is the beginning of that sypnosis though? I’m in love. I thoroughly enjoyed The Young Elites and I cannot wait to read the sequel. The Release date is for October 13th.

5. The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness 41Lv-UagYhL._AA160_ What if you aren’t the Chosen One?  What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life. Even if your best friend is worshiped by mountain lions. Patrick Ness is a celebrated author which is justifiable seeing as he wrote the Chaos Walking trilogy and Monster Calls. I, however, have not read any of his books so this will be a new venture for me. The book sounds amazing and the opposite of cliche (yay) so I am definitely looking forward to this book being released. The release date is August 27th

6. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (Six of Crows #1) 512IpKf4U3L._AA160_ Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone… I have the feeling that this book will end up being one of my favourites of the year. I have had my eye on this book since June and I’m patiently waiting for its release. I love team work-y, lets do it team, bad ass kind of books and this book seems to tick the box. It is also linked to its predecessor The Shadow and Bone series and it takes place in the series world. I would like to see if any of the characters in Shadow and Bone make an appearance. The release date is for Sepetember 29th.

7. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling: Illustrated Edition  51BnBUYXmBL._AA160_ But also every other book in the series in the illustrated editions. The illustrations from the images look amazing and it will be a nice edition to my Harry Potter collection. The release date is for October 6th.

8. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R Martin (Song of Ice & Fire Prequel) 51Nw2bqV4cL._AA160_ Before Tyrion Lannister and Podrick Payne there was Dunk and Egg. A young, naïve but courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals – in stature if not experience. Tagging along with him is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg – whose true identity must be hidden from all he and Dunk encounter: for in reality he is Aegon Targaryen, and one day he will be king. Improbable heroes though they be, great destinies lay ahead for Dunk and Egg; as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Finally George R R Martin has released a Game of Thrones book!…even if it isn’t the next book in the series. It compiles three, short prequels and it’ll be interesting to see if it will tie in at all with Game of Thrones (most likely not). The release date is for October 6th. *Cries in the corner*

9. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara 51WgBX+RVfL._AA160_ When four graduates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they’re broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their centre of gravity. Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he’ll not only be unable to overcome – but that will define his life forever. It’s either going to be a book that makes you feel warm inside or a book that will make me cry. Either way, I really want to read it. It’ll be interesting to see how four totally different people come together to help Jude. Release date: August 13th.

10. Face Paint : The Story of Makeup by Lisa Eldrige 61L7iByzzxL._AA160_ Make-up, as we know it, has only been commercially available in the last 100 years, but applying decoration to the face and body may be one of the oldest global social practices. Lisa Eldridge, one of the world’s foremost make-up artists–with a very large and loyal public following of her own–has written the first real history of the subject. Face Paint will explore the reasons behind make-up’s use, the actual materials employed and manufactured through the ages, the icons that people emulate and how they achieved their effects, the impact on women’s lives and the present and future of make-up from high profile practitioners artists to cosmetic breakthroughs. Along with the glamorous trappings, this is also about women’s history and the ways in which we can understand their story through the prism of make-up. I wear makeup pretty much every day and yet, I don’t stop to think what the ingredients are and how, for instance, the lipstick came about so when I found about this book, I was definitely intrigued to say the least. The release date is October 13th.

And finally,

11. Saga Volume 5 by Brian K. Vaughan 51xYxofjSCL._SX323_BO1,204,203,200_ Multiple storylines collide in this cosmos-spanning new volume. While Gwendolyn and Lying Cat risk everything to find a cure for The Will, Marko makes an uneasy alliance with Prince Robot IV to find their missing children, who are trapped on a strange world with terrifying new enemies. I adore this graphic novel series and have refused to buy volume 4 due to knowing volume 5’s release date is so far away (a bit of an exaggeration). I definitely would recommend this book to any sci-fy lover and anyone who enjoyed Romeo and Juliet as this graphic novel combines the two. The release date is or September 15th. So there you have it! Are you guys looking forward to any books in particular? Do any of these books sound intriguing to you? Let me know in the comment section below!
